Dr.Anderson prescribes children a medicine called aderrall for a attention disorder called A.D.H.D but he believes this disorder is made up, and a excuse to prescribe children medicine for what he believes the real problem is poor academic performance.
Some families have low income and cant afford to put there children in better schools. They cant change there children's surroundings so they try and change the children with the medicine because parents want to see there children succeed.
Low income families rarely can afford tutoring and other ways to help there children in school so medicine becomes the most reliable and effective to lead A.D.H.D students toward success.
Dr.Nancy a psychiatrist in Cambridge who works mostly with lower income children and there schools says "we are seeing this more and more.We are using a chemical instead of doing things that are just as important also do,sometimes more".
I think this opinion is true because people are using medicine to solve the problem instead of solving the problems with student bye giving them attention and finding ways to keep them focused.
I say that students shouldn't take the medicine because it has side effects, I think people should find away to get there children more attention , or families should give them more attention there selves and try to get them to focus and give them ways they can do better or give them things if they do their best and focus.
to me this medicine relates to depression medicine it can help you do better and achieve things.
Good post Cynthia. You do an especially good job explaining the motivations of the doctors. 100
